Particularly when it comes to fashion and personal style? A simple question, to which I would like some perhaps more complex answers, thoughts and opinions from my readers. Please leave your comments!
And check out the responses on IFB, some great points so far.

Do you mean imitation as in "copycat"…like let's say you had a certain outfit and I just totally copy it on point and claim that it is my own personal style as well? Well, in that case, I just believe fashion is not really as endless as it seems. A lot of us tend to recycle and take ideas from one another, which I believe is one of the most community-bonding things about fashion. I mean, yes, I'll feel a little flattered if I hear someone say they totally "copied my look" but…is that really individual style? I don't know. I just think we all bounce ideas off of one another when it comes to fashion.

I belive that personal style is a way of comunicating yoiurself to the world. And its ok to take ideas from others because in some sort of way that is one of the reasons for creting (or joining}a fashion community. But I belive that is very important to remember that its just INSPIRATION and IDEAS.
To me copying a whole look is like saying "I dont know who I am and I wanna be like you" which sometimes is ok but in the whole fashion community and world is not.
I would get flattered if they copy my style or if they use it as inspiration, but if they copy my WHOLE look I dont know what I would think.

Thanks for the responses! I agree with both of your points.
Everyone needs inspiration from somewhere, and particularly with High Street fashion it is inevitable that you will own the same pieces as a lot of other people. It can be argued that the whole point of blogging about your own outfits and personal style through things like Lookbook is to inspire others.
However I feel that there is a fine line between being inspired by someone's fashion and personal style, and being a blatant copycat, and once that line is crossed it can be extremely irritating! In my opinion, being a 'copycat' would entail seeing one person or blogger post / wear / do / talk about something, and then doing almost the exact same thing yourself. Once or twice is okay, of course, but when it happens again and again I don't think that's acceptable. It can be quite a sensitive issue though, as no-one wants to be called a copycat.
