A highlight of my first fashion week experience had to be the absolutely adorable Orla Kiely presentation. I made my way to the Vinyl Factory in Soho to find a stage area dotted with empty plant pots, backgrounded by a glass screen. A Rolling Stones song kicked in, three ladies in overalls started painting the backdrop from behind, and the first model emerged.
One by one the models came out armed with oversized flowers, which they placed in individual pots as they walked around the set. As the presentation went on, the glass screen ‘grew’ more and more flowers, so by the end the set was awash with colour. The whole thing was just so damn cute! Most importantly, though, the clothes were spot on. Due to the good weather we’ve had over LFW, it was much easier to get in the right mood for summer clothes. I love how Orla manages to consistently do 60s inspired without being dated – I left wanting smock dresses, some loose fitting trousers, one particular cocoon coat, and everything in the grey and white print above (please)! The shoes too cannot go unmentioned, I feel that the platforms in particular would greatly improve my life. They’re part of another collaboration with Clarks (excellent news for everyone’s bank balance); you can buy the AW14 collection on the Clarks website right now.
See more of my photos from the presentation below, I hope you like them!
