Flares, bell-bottoms, frills, and everything else Stevie Nicks-esque can be quite hard to pull off, without looking like you’re on your way to nick some flowers from your neighbour’s garden to make a head crown, frolic in a meadow, or post an instagram about ~dreaming of Coachella~. I paired flared with flared here, but tried to avoid the aforementioned by keeping the outfit as minimal as possible, in both colour and accessories.
This pale nude top from BooHoo, with super flared sleeves, is really light and pretty, and looks great (imo) with jeans or even denim shorts, should you wish to be a bit more subtle about wearing flares. The trousers are by (really really great) independent, handmade brand MXCI. Independent and handmade does not equal badly made, or ill fitting, and these ‘Stevie’ velvet flares fit an absolute dream, without any unwanted sagging or weird bunching around the crotch (never a good look). They come in a variety of other colours, and a shorts version too. I finished the outfit off with a thick, black velvet choker and matchy matchy nude nails (Barry M in shade ‘butterscotch sundae’).
