How much is there to say about blue jeans and a white t-shirt? It’s maybe the most obvious, most basic of outfits, and when I put this outfit on, I spent an extra 20 minutes trying to figure out what else I could add or accessorise with. Eventually I gave up and decided that less is more, sometimes, and also if you wear a simple outfit then people might think that you’re effortlessly cool.
I find that the best way to make a simple outfit really work, is to choose simple pieces that have something ever so slightly more interesting or, as much as I loathe to use the word, quirkier than your average. e.g., look at the extremely adorable embroidered cherry motif on my Brand Melville tee, and the (perhaps slightly excessive) frays on my Topshop jeans. I did buy mine like this but they sold out super fast (ugh) – they are the new ‘Dree’ fit, so you could definitely just buy the non-frayed version, and get a bit crafty and fray them yourself.
How lovely is the setting for these photos, NT’s cafe and bar in London Fields, by the way?
