It’s me as a boy. Except not really because it’s 2017 and fashion does not need banal restrictions like the social construct of gender!!! I have always really liked androgynous dressing, both in its more editorial form but also in casual everyday wear, but have generally struggled to apply it to myself. Lately, however, I have become more comfortable with dressing in a way which isn’t necessarily ‘flattering’ on my body in a traditional sense, or rather I have become more comfortable with being comfortable.
This Topshop coat was an absolute blinder of a sale find: it was £50, is my favourite long, enveloping sort of silhouette, and means that I don’t even have to care all that much about the outfit I’m wearing underneath. Very good. It works well for a ‘smart’ look, but equally well worn over a hoodie and jeans (yes I really am very committed to wearing hoodies as an extra layer again). I’ve also started wearing socks that actually cover my ankles in cold weather. Is this growing up?
