At the beginning of the month I went to my first ‘friend wedding’ (which I think is a significantly awful ‘I’m old’ milestone), and decided on a black floral midi dress for the occasion. An April wedding, especially one taking place in the north of England, is a tricky one to dress for because of the entirely unpredictable weather. I wanted sleeves and some length to my outfit and found this black floral midi on ASOS – I was a little apprehensive about wearing black to a wedding because I have absolutely no idea about wedding etiquette, but I think that the large silver floral print balances out the black, plus I even OK-ed it with the bride. I also think that I’ll get much more wear out of this dress than I would out of something more traditional wedding guest-y, which is always a bonus.
I need to insert a small disclaimer here: I didn’t realise until after I’d taken these photos that the dress buttons up at the neck, so the open back is more of a subtle slit than a full v-shape – oops. I finished off the outfit with a silky fringed skinny scarf, some strappy sandals with a low chunky heel (which were super comfortable for all day and all night wear) and a beige lightweight coat. I’ve also included a couple of wedding that snaps I took of my beautiful pal Lauren, because who doesn’t love a wedding photo?
ps: my dress is now on sale for 45 quid!
