The secret to Topshop Unique’s success is wearablity. The styling of each look perfectly nails ‘wow I would never have thought to pair those together, but I want to wear that whole look right now’, and their Spring Summer 2016 collection is no exception to this. As someone who almost without exception prefers winter fashion (but not winter weather) I was pleasantly surprised to be as in love with this as I am. In what is seemingly an ode to the uncertainty of British seasons, Topshop has paired floaty dresses with cosy looking knits, and put a faux fur trim on everything.
In line with the theme of individuality that inspired the hair on the catwalk, the collection is very varied. The show began with bold, printed, 80s influenced power dressing and tailoring, and ran with the 80s influence throughout. For my generation, this is exactly an updated, chicer version of what our mums wore in their teens and twenties.
The dainty floral prints were hardly groundbreaking (right, Miranda Priestly?) but were extremely pretty on floaty dresses and skirts with elegant thigh high splits, and some incorporated tiny strawberries which I thought was very sweet. The florals also provided a great contrast to the other bolder prints which featured prominently in the collection; oversized polka dots and leopard. One particular look which has stuck in my mind since watching the show (which, by the way, was a real privilege and something I’m still very excited about) was a leopard print high necked blouse paired with a pink leather skirt and red skinny belt.
TLDR; this SS16 Topshop Unique wants you to wear oversized tailoring, dainty florals, faux fur accents, leopard print and polka dots, and 80s inspired everything. Take a look at what went on with the hair and make-up backstage here.

I managed to spot you Hannah on the front row when I was watching the live stream of the show! I loved the unlikely pairings that were strutted down the catwalk. My favourite look was definitely the camel trench coat, red jumper and floral bottoms shown in your third photo 🙂 x

This collection is gorgeous (hello, leopard print), but I adore your images more! I love the way you do your reportings and your photographs have a more organic, candid feel if you get what I mean? So clear, minimal, light and crisp, unlike the typical runway shots you see. Very editorial. I dunno, I'm rambling, I just love them aha.
Kindly,
Sheree
