An alliterative title! And more sequins, just in time for the most sequin-y night of the year? It’s your lucky day! I’m still very much enamoured with the Ashish for Warehouse collection (all of which is now on sale) and chose to wear the silver sequinned maxi skirt for a Friendmas Christmas dinner, dressed down with a tied up t-shirt and my favourite ‘grunge nan’ cardigan.

Not not really, it’s fucking freezing. And I’m vegan. But was I going to pass up the opportunity to take photos outside a hibernating fleet of pink ice cream vans? Also no. The real star of the show, though, is this suit. In perhaps one of the coolest opportunities this job has ever given me, ASOS invited me to see where the magic happens and order a custom, made-to-measure version of one of their suits. I chose this one but opted for a black and white check a la Mick Jagger, with a red lining because, well, I could! It also took a lot for me to not title this post ‘moves like Jagger’, but I don’t think enough time has passed for that to be a quirky and funny throwback and not just still an intensely annoying song yet. I’ve linked some similar suits below.
My boots, also, deserve some attention here. They perfectly marry together my love of a lace-up and a cowboy boot style, look much more expensive than the £44.99 they cost on Ego Shoes, and are non-leather. Result.

I’ve been feeling uninspired. I’m not in a style rut, but rather a career rut. I still love clothes but the desire to photograph and write about my outfits has been dwindling even more rapidly than my will to live. Kidding, sort of. But the sort of content creation that I have been doing and evolving for over seven(!) years now just isn’t really my bag any more, and after ruminating on this for a while I have decide that that’s okay.
What to do next is something I haven’t quite figured out yet, but (baby) step one was putting on my glad rags, the Jessica Rabbit-y, crowning glory of the recent collaboration between ASHISH and Warehouse, and taking some photos with an old blogging pal Kylie. There is nothing quite like the looks you get walking round a quiet suburb wearing a full length sequinned gown to get the old creative juices flowing again. New year, new me?

This month in music has been all about new releases, and consuming a lot of radio to try to diversify my listening. In reality all this has done is make GNT by Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs my most heard single of the entire year probably, but that’s fine.
It’s really hard to pick favourites from this month’s playlist, if I do say so myself, but The Orielles’ Peggy Gou cover that we didn’t know we needed (but definitely did), Nilüfer Yanya’s new one and apathetic depression banger ‘I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)’ from The 1975’s new album are highlights that are absolutely worth your time.

I despise being cold with every fibre of my weak, pathetic human body. But if there is any saving grace to the miserable depths of winter, it is jumpers. I bloody love jumpers. This season I have particularly been favouring thin knits of all shapes, sizes and colours, layered under leather, faux fur or, if I’m feeling particularly cosy, ANOTHER knit.
My go-to look de la saison is a thin knit tucked into a checked skirt. Mini, midi, pleated, a-line, they all work. Think school uniform if you were allowed to design it yourself. Take a look at some more favourite knits and checked skirts below:

I’m always five minutes late for everything, but now I’m an entire week late uploading October’s playlist. I’m not surprised, just disappointed.
I am going to start by talking about Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon, because they are both on my playlist with new(!) songs that make me want to comb my fringe over and spend my Saturdays drinking cheap cider outside a church and running away from Community Support Officers. Bring Me The Horizon! And Dani Filth! I think there’s actual breeing in there too?! Frankly, anyone who has not yet accepted that BMTH are a fantastic and deserving arena rock band is wrong and needs to grow up.
Before you get that far, the October playlist opens with three strong pop hits from The 1975 (inspired by Belinda Carlisle, perhaps?), Sigrid and Charly Bliss, followed by feel-good guitar music of varied sensibility by Sports Team, The XCERTS (should be more successful than Biffy Clyro, sorry) and Steve Lamacq’s latest 6 Music darlings, Squid.
The remainder of the playlist is more mellow; my personal highlights are the new tracks from boygenius (do yourself a favour and listen to their wonderful EP in full), The KVB, Westerman, and the A Star Is Born soundtrack. Thanks.
I said I wasn’t going to get any new coats this season because I ‘don’t need them’, but I lied to everyone and most importantly I lied to myself. Sorry. This brown faux leather trench from Warehouse has already become a new favourite and nice alternative to the plethora of black pleather already in my wardrobe. Plus it makes me feel like a 70s TV detective, which can only be a good thing.
I continued the vintage-y theme of my outfit with this sweet little dress from Nobody’s Child, worn over a black long sleeve.

On closer inspection this is apparently zebra print (EVEN THOUGH IT IS DEFINITELY MORE TIGER COLOURS), but I’ve had to come up with a lot of titles about zebra print already, so this one stays. Groovy, baby. An allover animal print on a high neck, long sleeved top isn’t the most subtle way to do the trend, but I’ve never cared much for subtlety.
These high waisted, wide leg Levi’s give me early 00s Avril Lavigne Fan nostalgia, so I wore them with a chain and the best school disco handbag I have ever seen. I don’t know what I would have been carrying in my handbag for a primary school disco, but that is beside the point.
