The reportedly ‘open to all’, fantastically eccentric Spring Summer 2012 Vivienne Westwood Gold Label show at Paris Fashion week was unsurprisingly special. Westwood took a huge influence from China for this collection, supposedly targeting the new and ever growing fashion market in China, which is obvious in a good number of the looks, for example with the Mao caps and jackets. Dame Vivienne noted “I have always loved the Mao cap, though I hate violent revolution”. Other influences included the desert – because of climate change, and of course 17th Century corsets. The collection also featured some unmistakably Westwood pieces (not that it is ever easy to confuse her work with the work of another), for example the ‘consumerism disguised as anti-consumerism’ ‘I ♥ CRAP’ clutch. As usual, the beautiful bridal wear was certainly a highlight of the collection for me, namely a stunning sequinned lace gown with some equally gorgeous bridesmaids’ dresses alongside. Take a look at the full collection below (images via Elle).
Another gloriously hot day in the UK! I am planning on going to a BBQ this weekend, providing the weather holds up, so this is what I’ll wear. Instead of my sailor wedges, I’ll finish the outfit with my red Vans Authentics, because I think they will tie it together nicely, and look really cute. I couldn’t include them in the photo because they’re at my boyfriend’s! What do you think? As always, hypes, comments and new fans are hugely appreciated. Leave me all your Lookbook links too!
Just as I got excited about being able to wear more of my winter wardrobe, we have a heatwave! It’s been lovely weather today, of course I’m not complaining. Here’s what I wore.
I got some Gosh nail glitter as a birthday gift from a friend, and I was really excited to use it. It’s so good! I would definitely recommend it. I have the turquoise shade, but I’ll definitely be popping into Superdrug to buy some more colours.
For this nail art, I took inspiration from the ever popular nail trend of painting your ring finger differently to your other fingers. The easiest way of channelling this trend is of course simply painting them a different colour, but instead I chose to to the reverse effect which I had on my other nails. I used Gosh nail glitter and Number 17 ‘pink grapefruit’ nail varnish, as well as a top coat to set the glitter.
A while ago I posted about how much I love UNIF, and now I love them even more! Solestruck just posted that these PINK Hellraiser shoes are at their warehouse, and will be online soon. I am completely in lust with the bang on trend slipper shape and hard-as-nails mini spikes, and especially with the new, bright, girly colour. Keep your eye on Solestruck if you want a pair, no doubt they will sell out fast.
You might’ve already seen my post from the beginning of September which included photos from the Nailphilia DegreeArt exhibition in London. DegreeArt have now uploaded a video which gives us a closer look at even more of the art which was on display. I am in love!
Posted a new look today, featuring some of my new clothes. This is a great outfit, I think, for when I need to dress up a little on a winter’s night. It includes some of my favourite wintery textures: suede; velvet; faux fur and obviously glitter! What do you think?
Went on a very brief shopping trip today, and here’s what I bought! Everything except the leopard shirt, which was a birthday gift from my boyfriend, was an impulse buy.
Although the style which Nasir executes with such perfection is not necessarily one I would, or could, rock, this collection of looks is mindblowingly cool.
When asked by Vogue UK about his collection, designer Nasir Mazhar said:
“I’m showing people that if you’re into grime, why does that have to be dismissed? It’s a style. I’m trying to show that there’s this whole UK scene in London that’s really inventive and original. I’m trying to make people aware of one of the last subcultures. This season we’ve done four menswear outfits and I really like the tracksuit. It’s the beginning of us doing menswear, moving on from just accessories and hats.”

This gorgeous Chukka Boot ‘Nordic’ Pack is part of the Vans California Holiday 2011 Collection. The sillhouette is the classic Vans Chukka mid top, but it is the nordic patterns and leather accents which make it such a nice shoe. Available from Vans retailers soon in black and khaki colourways.
