I’m so excited about the increasingly bright evenings; looking at these weirdly lit photos causing me a much deeper frustration than is even remotely reasonable, ~~blogger problems~~ amirite? Anyway, here’s a super casual outfit about which I do not have a lot to say. I am particularly fond of this tight fitting, ribbed khaki coloured top (and its half length sleeves) from Topshop, which I’ve paired with super high waisted raw hem ASOS jeans. I really want the jeans in black now, too!

Every now and again, a gal just has to dress like a small child. I wore this infantile ensemble for a nice afternoon out on a nice sunny day… nice. This Lazy Oaf t-shirt is so adorable it immediately puts me in a good mood, I’m not entirely sure what ‘happy crap’ means (perhaps it refers to crap that is happy, e.g. cartoon bunnies) but I like it anyway. I paired it with a matching red lip, an American Apparel denim circle skirt, and my fave Converse (from one collaboration with Comme Des Garçons Play).

I’ve blogged this skirt before (here) and, as threatened in that post, I picked up the matching grid print top. It’s such a lovely, simplistic print – I think I’d like an inverted version to wear in summer. As it’s still far too cold to be frolicking about in a little skirt and sleeveless top, I layered a black roll neck underneath, and both denim and shearling on top. I’m also a recent convert to the Fjallraven Kanken backpack – it is so great having a practical backpack that fits everything in, I can’t recommend it enough for uni (or other form of schooling).

I’ve got another go-to piece in this Calvin Klein t-shirt from Urban Outfitters – basic enough to go with everything, but not quite too plain thanks to the somewhat iconic giant CK logo. Here I wore it with a super cute skort by UNIF, which sadly is (weirdly) huge on me despite buying my usual size – I would encourage sizing down! Fortunately a belt saved the day and I can keep wearing it, because I love the muted colours and the silhouette. I finished off this outfit with these super chunky boots with an oversized buckle and zip which I’m into at the moment, probably because they are in effect a reincarnation of the goth boots I was very much into as an avid 10 year old Avril Lavigne fan. Thanks again to Rachel for these photos, including some taken on 35mm film which I just love. Thoughts?

Day 2 of London Fashion Week, the Saturday, was when I chose to embrace the 70s trend a little. It was everywhere on the Friday (as I thought it might be) but, thankfully, I didn’t find myself getting sick of it and everyone looked incredible. I wore a BooHoo outfit for a shoot and Instagram takeover with some of my favourite bloggers with brightly-coloured hair (more on that to follow) consisting of a really cool loose fitting blouse with thin black stripes, and tan faux suede a-line mini, paired with thigh high suede boots. On top I wore my longline denim shirt/jacket/dress thing from Cow vintage, and (although once again I would have liked to forgo the coat, weather did not permit) my favourite teddy coat which turned out by happy coincidence to look quite cool with a matching H&M backpack. How great are these photos by Oscar, too?

I wore this outfit for a nice day out shopping with my mum – buying this oversized faux fur, vintage looking coat from Primark in a few sizes too big was a great decision, I’m really into how obnoxious it looks! I like the colour contrast of it with my French Connection dress which is almost denim coloured, but is actually a super soft and lightweight tencel fabric which is going to be perfect in warmer weather. This is definitely one of the marginally more sophisticated outfits I’ve worn as of late: these pointed flats from Daniel Footwear are really fab because they look smart but are still very comfortable – I wore them all day shopping without a problem so full marks there. They’re also on sale for £31.99, down from £109.99! Finally, I’m carrying a beautiful new rosey nude coloured Davidoff bag on my arm, from their latest Icon collection – I have been stuck in a black-handbags-only rut recently, and this is the perfect piece to get me out of it. Thoughts?

Quite a drastic change of scenery here. I’m in my grandparents’ beautiful back garden at their home in the Lake District – I love living in a city but it is always really just nice to be able to be somewhere like this every now and again. I wore this outfit out for dinner for my grandmother’s 80th birthday (happy birthday again, I know you’re reading this!)

You can tell that I’m slowly but surely getting sucked into the 70s trend which I didn’t quite think I could pull off, but after buying this absolutely incredible suede jacket from Mango which I don’t think I’ll be taking off any time soon, it’s all downhill from here and soon I’ll be looking like I’m trying to tour with Stillwater and Penny Lane. Thoughts?

Thinking back to the days when I first discovered lookbook.nu and snagged myself an invite to the then invite-only community; I used to spend hours scrolling wistfully through all the incredibly cool Swedish girls in their effortlessly minimal outfits in stunning locations. Not much has changed really! Although us mere mortals from the UK and elsewhere have caught up a little, there is something about Scandinavian girls’ style that always seems ahead of the curve, yet without pandering to each and every passing trend. Inspired by this minimal aesthetic and trying my absolute hardest to look effortless (oh the tragic irony), I chose a few pieces from Urban Outfitters: I’m wearing this teddy coat (which you’ve seen before), super cool wheat coloured (?) sleeveless knit, and holy grail of pleated schoolgirl skirts by UNIF. I chose very neutral shades to pair with black, as a contrast against my now very bright hair and matching lips. I quite wanted to do this outfit with bare legs but it was bitterly cold so that was out of the question, although it’s definitely one I’m looking forward to wearing in the warmer weather. It also looks great with big chunky boots – I’m definitely going to be getting lots of wear out of all these pieces! Thoughts?

Here’s another variation of the skirt / long sleeve top / thigh high combo that I blogged here and still can’t stop wearing. I recently invested in a couple of new black long sleeves from Motel to further facilitate this mini obsession, including this one which has a sort of daring but also very cute keyhole cut out. I paired it with an American Apparel skirt in a tiny, brown toned houndstooth print, that super cosy Urban Outfitters teddy coat, thigh high socks and lace up ankle boots, and my Kite glasses as Suki snapped these photos for me en route to a lecture.

I’m stuck in an outfit rut at the moment – I just cannot stop wearing (variations of) a cute little high waisted skirt and tight fitting long-sleeve top or jumper. It is a very failsafe combination though, which is why I have been drawn to it for brief trips out of my flat to escape drowning in piles of exam revision. Here I paired a monochrome grid print skirt from Ark (which has a matching top, which I now need in my life asap) with a navy cropped jumper from Choies (a really great basic, and quite a bargain at £14) and classic Dr Martens shoes. I have been enjoying doubling up on coats in the cold weather too – this faux sheepskin SheInside coat makes an ideal layer under my (lifesaving) Rains waterproof.
