For some ridiculous, autocratic fashion media and popular culture influenced reason, I do not like wearing the same thing too many times in quick succession, and thus buying in a more distinctive piece like a printed midi dress can be quite uneconomical. I wear it on one occasion, then once enough time has passed for me to be able to wear it again I run the risk of not even liking the damn thing any more.
Lately I have tried to subvert this dilemma, firstly by investing in more basics and layering pieces, and secondly by buying statement pieces that I can envisage wearing in more than one way. This belter of a polka dot dress, for example, will be wonderful with a pair of sandals or some Converse and nothing else once summer and festival season hits, but for now I think it looks great layered up and worn with Docs.
