3 Ways to Wear – Skinny Jeans

So skinny jeans aren’t exactly the trickiest garment to style, but despite the fact that you can wear them with almost anything I often find myself getting stuck in a rut with them; I’ve been pairing mine almost exclusively with band t-shirts or roll neck jumpers and a leather jacket at the moment. I wanted to push myself a little and think of a few new ways to style my new ‘shaping skinny’ jeans from H&M for everyday wear, let me know in the comments which your favourite is!

Another very casual outfit for you, in the same vein as the last one I posted featuring these fab 7 For All Mankind jeans. This time I paired them with a basic white roll neck, trusty leather biker, and what I guess are ‘statement boots’ from Fashion Pills – the boots are currently on sale for £28, how great?! Jeans and a Jumper

Comfortable weekend dressing at its very best – jeans, a jumper, DMs and a biker jacket. These new pieces are some of the best quality basics I own – on the whole I far prefer splashing out on basic / go-with-everything pieces than on more statement-making things, because I know I’ll get far more wear out of a cashmere jumper and quality pair of jeans than I would out of a fancy dress or something that fulfils a temporary lust for a more transient trend. Both the jeans and the jumper are from 7 For All Mankind, who I talked about in my last post (there’s also a 7FAM giveaway there, if you missed it) – both are around the £200 mark, which for me and I know for many of my readers is expensive, but a quality investment is necessary sometimes and essentials like these are a good place to start if you’re looking into buying higher end. I talked a little about the fit of these jeans in my last post but I can’t get enough of them, plus I think they look great with my new DMs from Shoetique (still available on the website in off white on sale at £79.95, or if you’re desperate for the black pair you can get them here). I’m also wearing a green faux leather biker which I just had to have when I spotted it in Zara for £29.99 – even though they only had size large left, I actually think it looks quite good oversized!

Finally, my bag is from Beara Beara and is my current fave for university. It’s (obviously) a backpack so much more suitable for carting heavy things around than a handbag is, it’s super durable so no need to replace it year after year, and it fits up to a 15″ laptop so it is plenty roomy. Plus, Beara Beara is a family run independent business so it’s win-win!

7 For All Mankind – Manchester Store Experience / Giveaway

Earlier this year I attended the opening of New Cathedral Street’s latest addition: 7 For All Mankind‘s Manchester store. I was super excited to be invited back to the store to choose an outfit for myself, and battled my way through the Christmas-markets-induced foot traffic to visit last weekend.

The store itself is very pleasant – clean looking with a subtle California vibe (which is where the brand originates), and very easy to shop with super friendly and helpful staff, and some nice cacti too (an essential element of any shopping experience if you ask me). The main attraction is the denim: I was immediately attracted to the ‘Relaxed Skinny’ as modelled by current face of the brand Miranda Kerr, but there were so many great pairs to choose from! After much deliberation I actually opted for the Josefina, a skinny boyfriend style not all that dissimilar from the Relaxed Skinny, in a medium blue wash with some subtle distressed detail. They’re relaxed and a little scruffy looking without gaping at the knee like a lot of other casual denim at the moment, and they’ve fast become my favourite pair of jeans – I will still stand by a black skinny jean forever, but I think these are a little more grown up (and flattering) than the ‘mom’ jeans that I’ve loved for the past few years. At £200 they’re definitely an investment, but 7FAM is undoubtedly a luxury brand and the high quality will, I think, last as long as 4 pairs of £50 jeans. Fit-wise I’d recommend sizing down, particularly if you’re between sizes! If you’re really looking to splash out beyond denim, 7 does some amazing leather pieces including beautiful biker jackets and leather trousers too.

For the top half of my outfit I chose the comfiest dark grey cashmere jumper, but I was spoilt for choice with beautiful white and off white blouses which looked amazing with the Josefina jeans. You’ll be seeing my full 7 For All Mankind outfit on the blog later this week!

Leather Peplum

Top – Mary Jane Fashion* | Jeans – vintage | Cardigan – American Apparel | Shoes – New Look

I love this faux leather peplum top from Mary Jane Fashion, it combines the leather and peplum trends perfectly! It looks great with anything from skinny jeans to pencil skirts to printed trousers, and even ‘boyfriend’ style jeans like I did here. It also looks great belted, I’m on the lookout for a pretty embellished belt to wear with it. I also love my ASOS sale rings and new shoes which were a bargain £8 in the New Look sale, and are in my opinion the next best thing to the Jeffrey Campbell Brazens – take a look at the rest of my January sale picks in this post. I think this outfit is a great casual/everyday outfit which could easily be worn with studded loafers or another flat shoe, or if I swapped the jeans for black skinnies or some printed trousers it would be great for the evening too. With free next day UK delivery and 10% student discount it’s always tempting to buy something from MissGuided, and so when I saw this mini dogtooth print American Apparel style crop roll neck I couldn’t resist! Although crop tops aren’t the most practical pieces for winter for some people, I still find them very wearable with high waisted bottoms and more layers, and the monochrome print is perfect to pair with rich, autumnal colours and textures. Recently I’ve become obsessed with jeans in all shapes and sizes (well, almost), and my latest go-to pair are these vintage ‘boyfriend’ style jeans which I got from Retrograde Vintage.
