Although I still love spending far more time than I should painting my nails, I have recently neglected blogging about them, so here’s a little update. If you want more frequent nail updates, then feel free to follow me on Instagram @hannahlouisef or on the web version instagram.com/hannahlouisef!
In the iconic words of Karl Lagerfeld, ‘One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress’, and of course he could never be wrong! Although Karl probably didn’t have anything less than Chanel in mind, there is never a shortage of fabulous LBDs for the Christmas party season both on the high street and online. One of my favourite brands at the moment is the up and coming, ‘as seen on’ TV celebs, bloggers and X-Factor contestants, Lashes of London. Lashes is giving one lucky person a chance to win one of their many beautiful LBDs, the stylish and unique ‘racer front’ Harlow dress, worth £65! To enter simply go here and follow the instructions on screen. Good luck!
If you’re not feeling lucky and want to treat yourself instead, check out a couple of my other favourite LBDs from the Lashes collection below! And keep your eyes peeled for a post by yours truly featuring the stunning, best selling Ramona dress (bottom).

Even before considering the fact that he is a Lancastrian like me (woo!), Henry Holland is consistently one of my favourite designers. His summer collections in particular always stand out to me and are often copied on the high street, and so once we have the worst of the winter months out of the way I believe we’ll be seeing pieces influenced by his quirky pastel, neon and metallic SS13 collection all over the place. As you might have realised from my post on winter warmers, I love a good beanie and was super excited by the blingtastic (yes, I did just use that word) ‘jewel’ encrusted hats on the House of Holland catwalk at LFW earlier this year. I did have one problem with them – I want to wear one now, not in summer! I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own version for a fraction of the price to keep my little head warm this winter, and here’s how I did it.
You will need:
- A plain beanie – you can choose any colour you like but I chose to stick with the neutral tones of the House of Holland hats and bought this one in ‘camel’ for £2.85 inc. P&P from eBay.
- Plastic gems – you have free reign over colour, shape and size, but I chose to try to emulate House of Holland again by using clear, rectangular gems. I bought two packets of these larger gems and one packet of these smaller ones, both from eBay for a total of £5.55, but feel free to use more or less as you see fit!
- Needle and thread.

Is there such thing as too many Christmas party dresses? Obviously not! My second for the season (following the gorgeous Belle dress from Jones and Jones I blogged about here last week) is this beautiful metallic gold and black number by worldwide dress specialist Chi Chi. The dress combines two of the biggest trends for the season: baroque and peplum. It features a hidden zip and an elasticated back for a better fit, and also a flattering and practical padded bust. Search for the ‘Rita’ dress on the Chi Chi website to purchase it on sale for a bargain £28.99, or check out the Casey dress if you’d prefer this look in an icy white and silver.
Pair the dress with a bright red lip and big platform heels for a bold statement, or a nude lip, big messy hair and smokey eyes for something more relaxed.
