Sometimes I forget how much I enjoy the simple but ever so effective combination of a pretty dress and a tougher leather biker jacket. I like the vintage feel of this particular dress from Sugarhill Boutique, and the fact that it is green is a bonus as I really don’t think green is a colour I wear enough! The dress I’ve linked above is actually mint green rather than the version I have here, sadly mine isn’t available any more but the mint is equally as cute.

I was a little dubious about this burgundy leather jacket when it first arrived because it is much less fitted than I am used to, however after trying it with a few different outfits I have completely fallen for it when styled with other masculine-ish pieces. Can I also mention how many excellent coats and jackets Wallis have in at the moment?! I really need to get my mitts on this Kim Kardashian-esque nude belted coat.

I wore the super soft burgundy leather here over a very simple monochrome outfit, made up of black skinny jeans and Motel’s super cool white shirt dress (which I think I prefer over jeans or trousers for winter, but could definitely see it with bear legs and some sandals or trainers in the summer). Accessories-wise I jazzed things up a bit with this Primark statement faux fur (have you seen my top 10 favourite statement scarves post, by the way?), and Primark satchel which I think has similar vibes to the beautiful Proenza Schouler PS1 satchel. I’m also wearing a super sleek Daniel Wellington watch from Urban Trait, a Swedish online retailer (which free worldwide shipping!) who stock lots of other modern watch brands, including some really cool ones I’d never come across before.

Floral Flared Sleeves

Here is an outfit I wore in that uncharacteristically warm and sunny September we had. It feels like forever ago! I love the versatility of this Reverse playsuit – I wore this exact outfit in the day time, then to an evening event with the lovely Charissa (who kindly took these photos for me), then to a friend’s birthday do in the evening. I love the dramatic flared sleeves and general boho vibe of the silhouette of the playsuit, combined with the pretty floral print on a dark base (which means it’s super easy to wear with black tights in colder weather without looking weird, woo). I paired it with this amazing embellished cross body box bag from Primark, and Missguided faux snakeskin boots (if you’re in need of a pair of black ankle boots, don’t forget to check my edit of my current favourites in this post).

Outfit Of The Day | Hip To Be Square

I’m really liking drop hem dresses and fluted skirts at the moment, and I just had to have this one from SheInside -I love the very simplistic square checked print and as usual, it’s great value at £19.21! It is super short (be warned tall ladies, I’m 5’6″ and wearing a medium and it is JUST long enough to be decent), so is definitely one to be worn with thick opaque tights. I wasn’t completely sold on the ruffle details on the sleeves at first, but I think I have definitely come round to them; they soften the whole thing up and echo the shape of the fluted hem which is really cute. If you’re not feeling them though, they would be easy to simply cut off the dress because they’re attached inside the sleeve and the seam is totally hidden. I finished off my outfit with my standard Topshop Adonis ankle boots, ASOS ‘Coatigan’ and a white satchel from Primark.

Friday I’m In Love

Ok, I actually wore this outfit on Monday but today is Friday and I’m wearing a Cure t-shirt so I couldn’t resist the lyrical post title! The shirt is my boyfriend’s; I have countless band t-shirts of my own but I find myself rarely wearing the ones that aren’t black with a white print. To his dismay I especially like this one, it goes with everything! Here I wore it with a super cute tartan skirt from The Little Deer, a really lovely site which stocks a great variety of independent brands, go-to chunky ankle boots (now on sale here on the Topshop site!) and big warm biker jacket from Tesco. I also went for a little print clash with this snakeskin print cross body bag I picked up in the Topshop sale.

Mandala

So I have stayed true to my word and ended up with another piece in Motel’s fab Mandala print! I really love the fit of this dress from MeeMee, it’s the perfect relaxed fit for casual wear but could easily work with some big chunky heels for a night out. I’ve already gone on enough about how much I like this print (see my posts featuring the Mandala Kimono here and here), but it definitely works on this dress equally well. I paired it with all black some silver accessories (the longer necklace was a bargain £2 from Primark) and a deep purple lip (Mac’s ‘Media’).

Daytime Nightwear

I’m back! After moving into my new flat I’ve had no internet, but I’m home for the weekend and I’ll have internet at the new place on Wednesday (after what seems like a lifetime). Hooray! I wore this outfit the other week – this is technically a nightdress which I picked up in the Topshop sale, but it’s super pretty and sufficiently modest so I didn’t want to ~save it for the bedroom, so to speak. I wore it with a Primark chiffon shirt and amazing new ‘Raven Block Heel Trainers’ from MissGuided – I’ve lived in these since I got them! They have a small heel but are really comfortable, and go with almost anything. The boots are very similar to Topshop’s popular Activist boots and look expensive with their faux suede upper, but are much cheaper than the Activists at £32.99.

Hard Shoulder

Last week I was invited to the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ charity beauty event at Harvey Nichols Manchester, and this is what I wore! The event was a fun evening which consisted of eating macaroons, watching some interesting beauty demos and lastly an insightful Q&A session with Glamour mag’s beauty director Alessandra Steinherr and Body Confidential editor Lynda Moyo. I was super excited to wear my new studded trench coat from Haute & Rebellious which does not need much of an explanation as you can see how fabulous it is! I decided to stick with a golden theme for the rest of my outfit: I wore a gold sequin t-shirt from Missikon, my favourite Cheap Monday jeans and black studded Chloe/JC lookalike ankle boots, which I posted about here. I accessorised with some gold earrings and my Vivienne Westwood bag. Pri-markable

Everyone knows I’m a sucker for Primark and its prices (why have one thing when you can have three?!), and today I wore an outfit almost entirely made up of Primark pieces! Other than my velvet button up which I got for around £10 on eBay, I practically a walking advertisement for Primark, and everything I’m wearing is current season too so if there is a Primark in your town you’ll hopefully be able to snap up the pieces you like.

I bought this gorgeous Burberry inspired coat for just £30 last month (scroll to the bottom for a clearer picture via Look – excuse the not so great quality of my photos today!), and I love the exaggerated silhouette it gives. The cute bow belt and fur collar are both nice touches too, and overall I think it has a very classy look.

The yellow boucle skirt I picked up yesterday for £14 gives a similar silhouette to the skirt of the coat, making them great to pair together in my opinion. I think that the skirt could easily pass off for something sold at over twice that price in Topshop! Boucle is of course a big trend this winter, and this skirt is perfect.

I finished off my outfit with ankle boots, an oversized bag and navy bobble hat, all of which I bought at Primark over the past couple of months and which might be still available in your nearest store.
