New Year’s Eve – party outfit idea

Is it too early to plan your Christmas and New Year’s Eve party looks? Evidently not! Admittedly when I was asked to choose and style a NYE party outfit for ASOS Fashion Finder I was a little alarmed (and filled with terror and despair at the thought of yet another year passing by, and the fact that this NYE post is preceding any Christmas posts), but then I cheered up and got excited about all the glitter. A little superficial perhaps, but glitter > being sad! You can check out my feature on ASOS Fashion Finder here.

For my NYE outfit, I wanted a bit of sparkle without going for the more predictable sequins. This tinsel skirt is more subtle and super cute! If you did want more of a full on look there’s a matching top so you can wear the fabric as a co-ord, instead I went for a really beautiful and simple nude silky cami which I think looks way more expensive than the £20 it costs. The more indulgent and glamorous part of my outfit comes in the form of this fabulous and super soft cream faux fur coat. Not exactly club wear, but as many New Year parties involve periods of time standing outside watching fireworks, some party appropriate outerwear is essential for me.

Accessories-wise, I didn’t wear any jewellery (although a few simple silver pendants would be nice) but did wear the sweetest glittery shoes from Primark, and very striking and edgy statement envelope clutch from Parcel & Journey. My lipstick is Limecrime’s Velvetine in ‘Wicked’, just FYI! Thoughts? Have you planned your NYE outfit yet, and does this help? Top 10 Statement Scarves

Despite the odd warm day we’re still having, it is definitely scarf season – hurrah! Scarves are one of my favourite accessories; practical and pretty, you really can’t beat them. A good statement scarf, particularly of the faux fur variety, is the best way to change up your go-to winter pieces like plain boyfriend coats or jumpers. Therefore, following my quite well received black ankle boot edit, I’ve decided to put together a list of my top 10 statement scarves which are available online right now. Most of the scarves are faux fur, but there are a couple which aren’t if fur isn’t your thing: the navy ribbed Topshop x Marques Almeida scarf (£30) is ideal for throwing on with any outfit but the extra-long length means it still stands out; the ASOS oversized pale blue fluffy scarf (£15) is incredible and affordable!

I chose mostly affordable scarves ranging from £15-£35 with a couple of more splurge-worthy pieces, in particular the absolutely stunning and super colourful Helen Moore scarf. That one is very pricey as far as scarves go at £120, but if you want a real stand-out piece that’s the one I’d go for.

If I was going to buy any of these (and I am very much considering doing so) I would probably go for the BooHoo plain grey faux fur scarf (£16), ASOS blue tonal colour-block faux fur scarf (£35), or the super unique grid print monochrome faux fur scarf also from ASOS (£30). I’d be quite happy with any of them though! Do let me know if you pick one up – happy shopping ☺

LFW Day 1 – Outfit Of The Day

Tah-dah! Right now I am in the midst of my very first fashion week. Living in Manchester and not studying or working in fashion has meant that thus far I just haven’t had the combination of opportunity and drive to go down, but I’m so glad I’ve finally made the trip. I’m eternally grateful to the people and brands who have allowed me to do this, in particular Oh My Love, Premier Inn and Megan! Friday was my first day, and here’s what I wore.

For the first part of the day I was invited by Oh My Love to shoot some street style (which I’ll be showing you in other posts) and hang out with the OML team and blogger babes Shope, Danielle and Amy. Naturally, my outfit consisted of an Oh My Love dress, and the most amazing fluffy OML bag! I kept my outfit monochrome with a black roll neck ribbed jumper from Motel and monochrome faux fur scarf from Primark (a terrible combination in hindsight, it was unbearably hot at times!), and super cute pointed monk shoes from Spy Love Buy. I’m also wearing House of Harlow sunglasses from Sunglasses Shop.

Bloggers Style the High Street with Primark – Look #2

Look familiar? This is look number two from my shoot with Primark for Company Magazine’s Blogger’s Style the High Street feature (see look #1 here). This was the look that was selected to feature in the magazine itself, and whilst it’s a little more ~out there~ than my usual style with the big colour clashes, I can see why this was chosen because the photos look great! I am particularly fond of the texture combination in this look, and of course the OTT teal faux fur and matching wide brim fedora! Check out this look on my Primania profile here.

Faux Furry

Faux fur gilet – Missguided* | Dress – Missguided* | Leather jacket – Topshop | Boots – Topshop

Missguided are really killing it with their selection of clothes, shoes and accessories at the moment, my wishlist gets bigger every time I visit their ‘new in’ pages! The two pieces are the top of my wishlist this time around, however, were this brushed silk skater dress and faux fur gilet, which I think look great together but are also super versatile too. As well as grey and baby blue, I love grey and pretty much any shade of pink for this winter, and so slowly but surely and sort of by accident I have been building up quite a vast collection of all sorts of items in those colours… oops. The one thing I find tricky about wearing pale colours in cold weather is that I have to wear black tights to keep warm, which I feel sometimes ruins the overall effect a little. Here I tried to avoid this by wearing a black leather jacket under the fur gilet, because I think that wearing some black on the top half of the outfit balances out the tights a little better. What do you think?

Winter Is Coming

Winter is certainly upon us, which means it’s time for wintery textures like faux fur and velvet and of course great coats and jackets. Thanks to MeeMee and Oh My Love I have both of those things in this outfit. The Cropped Wool PU Jacket I’m wearing contrasts the ever ‘on trend’ leather sleeve with a softer wool, and the bomber or varsity silhouette is also perfect for the season and great for layering over short cardigans or jumpers for extra warmth. Underneath I’m wearing the Sarah Black Velvet Peter Pan Collar Dress, which combines a slightly gothic vibe given by the black velvet and longs sleeves with something sweeter in the cream lace collar and cuffs (the cuffs are rolled down in these photos). Think Wednesday Addams but more up to date and cuter thanks to the velvet texture and short a-line hem! The dress is also available in ‘wine’ and ‘midnight blue’ from the Oh My Love website if an all-black look isn’t your thing.

I finished off my outfit with a black faux fur hat (Primark, £6) and black lace socks and Underground creepers which served me well through last winter and will continue to do so!
